CHILD Development

Raising a child is a big responsibility. Every parent entertains worries about whether they are doing the right thing for their children. We all want the best for our children, and we all want to give them ample opportunities to learn and develop, but finding out what works and what does not work can be a big challenge in itself.

The resources on our site will help you decide how best to approach the issue of your child's development. It must be remembered though that every child is different, and their needs are different too, so while there is plenty of information out there, the final decision often rests with you.

It is also a fact of life that children develop at different rates, especially between the ages of 0 - 5. For instance, some babies may start walking by the age of 6 months, while others may take as long as 20 months. Some children will pick up reading skills very quickly, while others will pick it up more slowly.

Whichever route your child's development takes, there's very rarely any need for real worry. By the time children reach the age of 6, they all have about the same competency level in basic skill sets, regardless of who was outperforming who in pre-school.
