gym equipment
Manufacturers of gym equipment and gymnasiums offer a wide range of gym equipment to buy and/or use. Deciding on which type of equipment is going to suit your needs is very much dependent on what you are looking to achieve when you exercise.
Gym equipment is broadly divided into three categories - cardiovascular equipment, resistance equipment, and equipment that combines cardiovascular and resistance exercise.
Cardiovascular gym equipment typically includes treadmills and exercise bicycles. This type of gym equipment is designed for aerobic exercise, which works the heart and lungs. Treadmills are useful for running and walking exercises. They often have a touch screen control panel where you can adjust speed as well as incline. Exercise bicycles come in two styles - upright and recumbent. On an upright bicycle the pedals are located below the seat as on a road bicycle, but on a recumbent style bicycle they are located out in front of you. If you suffer from back pain a recumbent style may work better for you.
Resistance gym equipment comprises of weight machines and free weights. Weight machines come in a variety of styles and are used to exercise different muscle groups in the upper and lower body. Free weights are used for armcurls and bench presses.
If you are looking for gym equipment that provides both a cardiovascular and resistance element to training then you should go for a cross-trainer or rowing machine.
