Mobility aids
Mobility aids are designed to help people who have difficulties getting around their home environment or who require some mobility assistance when out and about. They can be used by anyone, from young children with disabilities to the elderly, and do vastly improve the quality of life for sufferers of permanent and temporary mobility difficulties, as well as offering peace of mind to family members.
Wheelchairs, rollators, walking frames and walking sticks are all common forms of mobility aids that are available. You may be able to borrow some of these mobility aids from your local NHS community centre, or alternatively you can buy them direct from specialist mobility equipment suppliers. Specialised mobility aids, such as stair lifts to help you get up and down your stairs, bath lifts to assist bathing and mobility scooters to help you get around, are also available from mobility equipment suppliers too.
Mobility aids give people with mobility difficulties much more freedom and choice in the way that they live their lives. Users can move around and manage daily tasks without having to rely on other people to help them. Mobility aids also give users extra confidence in their movement abilities, especially when walking around the garden or down a street.
