Patients are becoming increasingly well-informed about cosmetic surgery and research their procedures much more extensively than they did ten years ago.

 

Recognising this, Mr Adrian Richards (Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Director of Aurora Clinics) was keen to develop a comprehensive source of cosmetic surgery information using a broad range of technological channels to make information accessible for as many people as possible.

 

Aurora Clinics’ new website, www.aurora-clinics.co.uk , features information pages, demonstration videos, podcasts, client testimonials, a cosmetic surgery blog and numerous cosmetic surgery before and after photographs.

 

The website aims to be the largest repository of information for anybody in the UK considering cosmetic surgery.

 

Mr Richards particularly feels that anybody considering cosmetic surgery wants to see a range of before and after photographs of people who have had similar procedures, testimonials describing former patients’ experiences (warts and all!) and sometimes even videos of the procedure being performed by Aurora surgeons.

 

“Many patients come to see me with before and after photographs of patients who have had plastic surgery,” says Mr Richards, “to show me the appearance they would like to achieve and the appearance they definitely would not like. However, on every occasion these photographs were taken from American rather than English websites as there is no significant library of before and after cosmetic surgery photographs in the United Kingdom”.

 

To rectify this, Aurora are building a gallery of these pictures on www.aurora-clinics.co.uk and Facebook (Aurora-Clinics). These photographs are being continually added to, with the aim of showing clearly and realistically the results of surgery for various cosmetic surgical procedures. This should help people potentially considering cosmetic surgery to make an informed decision whether they feel the results would be appropriate for them.

 

In the video and audio-file testimonials available on www.aurora-clinics.co.uk , Youtube (clinicsaurora) and itunes, all patients discussing their experiences have been encouraged to mention any downsides as well as benefits of their treatment, particularly emphasising recovery period, pain and discomfort. In this way, Aurora allows visitors to the site to get an honest, first-hand opinion from others who have experienced similar procedures already.

 

This is very much in keeping with the entire purpose of www.aurora-clinics.co.uk and, indeed, the ethos of Aurora as a company: to provide honest, open and accessible information without the marketing hype often associated with the field of Cosmetic Surgery.
